Explorations of a Life

Twitter’s value in emergencies is almost certainly non-existent, particularly for anyone who has a phone, landline, wireless, or other communication device. No one has been able to prove that the service has any commercial value or use for businesses to communicate with other businesses or their employees.

What If Twitter Folds? – 24/7 Wall St.

Apparently this writer has done absolutely zero research. There have been stories about how Twitter has saved people from committing suicide and gotten them out of foreign jails. I’m not quite sure how someone can say that a one-to-many communication method is inferior in emergencies to one-to-one (I’m assuming they’re thinking very narrowly about how you can’t talk to 911 over Twitter).

On commercial value, aren’t a lot of businesses like United Airlines offering Twitter-specific discounts in order to generate business? Yup, they are. Businesses are connecting with other businesses through Twitter, especially the small ones.
