Explorations of a Life

Kouzzina

This week found me in Orlando for the IBM Retail Users Group. While there I made a point of slipping over to Kouzzina on the Disney Boardwalk for another excellent dinner at Chef Cat Cora’s restaurant.

The flavor of the restaurant is Mediterranean Greek with Mississippi influences. Chef Cora’s style shows through in the menu as well as the cocktails which include an ouzo based martini and my favorite, a habanero based margarita. If you like spice, this one is a must try. The kitchen is open, so if you can score a table overlooking it, you can enjoy watching the brigade in action.

For dinner I had her nicely spiced Fisherman’s Stew. This is a rich tomato broth filled with scallops, shrimp, mussels and other white fish. It is served with crostini and simply delicious.

Kouzzina has become a must visit when in the Orlando area, and, I think one of the hidden gems that escape most people. There is no bar in the restaurant, but on a nice evening walking the boardwalk suffices while waiting for a table.
