More and more I find my iPad becoming my RSS consumption device. Realize that at any point in time I have hundreds of feeds in my Google stream. Generally for offline reading, my go to application is Reeder, which I will be reviewing in the near future. For online reading however I am coming more and more to enjoy the zen like simplicity of River of News.
River of News presents my RSS feeds as a river that I can simply scroll through. It syncs with Google, so I always have my key streams available. I can control the breadth of the river by selecting my entire feed, a folder within Google or a single feed.
Another aspect is that it has a broad selection of share points as shown in the picture to the right. The only one missing would be a link into OmniFocus for when I find an entry I want to go back and comment on later.
All in all, I find River of News a refreshing way to follow my streams, and I find myself reading ones I might have missed in Reeder. The format is not one that would allow me to make it my mainstream reader, though for someone with fewer streams it might work well for that. The one feature I would like to see added is the ability to scroll by tilt ala Instapaper or auto scroll at a set speed, stopping and starting by touch. Other than that, well done.
